Thinking of renting a boat in Corfu? You’re not alone—it’s one of the best ways to see the island from a whole new angle.

I’ve done it myself and paid around €90 for a small private boat that we drove ourselves (no license needed!).

It was such a fun, laid-back day exploring hidden coves and swimming in crystal-clear water.

That said, boat rental prices in Corfu can vary a lot.

My parents have done a few group boat tours over the years, which are usually more affordable and come with a guide.

On the flip side, you’ve also got the luxury private options—think big boats, lots of space, and unlimited drinks on deck 🥂.

In this post, I’m rounding up the best boat rental options for every style and budget—whether you’re after a DIY adventure or something a bit more bougie.

Let’s dive in!

Short On Time? 🤿

There are So many options available. But these are the BEST Boat Tours you should book before they sell out:

Self-Driving Boat: Ideal for small groups and families and is the type of experience I prefer!

Half-Day Luxury Speed Boat Experience: This is the ultimate boat trip. Think your all singing, all dancing vibe 🤩

Sunset Cruise: For those wanting a romantic evening or epic insta photos!

So, how much does it cost to rent a boat in Corfu?

This photo was taken when I last hired a boat in Corfu to explore the wildlife. You can see the blue waters head towards the shore with a mountain behind them

Well, as I mentioned earlier—it really depends.

If you’re after a simple, self-drive boat where you can pack a picnic, cruise around for a few hours and live your best island life, you can find options for around €80–€150.

But if you’re leaning more towards a luxury guided experience with endless wine, beers and someone else doing the driving, the price jumps up quite a bit—sometimes €300 or more.

It also totally depends on the time of year (summer is obviously peak), and whether you book online or haggle in person.

But honestly, if this is high on your wishlist, I highly recommend booking in advance.

Boats go quickly, especially in the hotter months, and you don’t want to miss out!

Is it worth renting a boat in Corfu?

Honestly, it was one of the best things I did while on the island! 😍

Being out on the water with no schedule, no crowds, and the freedom to explore hidden coves at my own pace felt like a dream.

We found little spots to swim where there wasn’t another soul in sight—just crystal-clear water and sunshine.

It’s such a different experience to seeing the coast from land, and if you love a bit of adventure (and peace and quiet), it’s absolutely worth it.

Also a heads up, the waters are really safe to explore all across the island!

Do you need a license to rent a boat in Corfu?

Nope, you don’t need a license to hire a small motorboat in Greece—as long as it’s under 30hp.

That’s what we did in Corfu, and it was super easy.

The rental company gave us a quick walkthrough on how everything works, and we were off!

If you’re planning to rent something bigger or fancier (think speedboats or yachts), then yes, you’ll likely need a license or a skipper. But for a chilled day cruising along the coast, stopping for swims and lunch, no license needed.

Final thoughts on renting a boat in Corfu

Don’t know if you can tell but I think hiring a boat is worth it!

However, prices do vary depending on the type of boat, time of year, and whether it’s a private charter or group tour.

Some even offer pick-up services which mean you don’t need to get the bus or an Uber!

But if you’re looking to save a bit of cash, a self-driven boat is the way to go—cheaper, flexible, and still an unforgettable experience.

Just pack a picnic, grab your snorkel, and get ready for a day on the water you won’t forget!
